Lemonade Diet

by admin on June 3, 2010

The lemonade diet is a also known as the master cleanse, is written by Stanley Burroughs in 1941. It has been around for more than 60 years due to its healing and weight loss benefits. In essence, the lemonade diet can prove to be very effective in detoxifying the body toxins that is accumulated in the body due to years of wrong dietary lifestyle.

Even though the lemonade diet can perform miracles to your health, it requires a lot of determination and discipline in order to effectively complete it. The fact is that during the 10 days of master cleanse, you cannot eat anything else other than the lemonade mixture and water. Most people failed because they are unable to resist the temptations to food.

Looking for an effective and reliable diet regimen is a common problem for a lot of individuals. This has been a fact for people who want to lose some weight and shed off their flabs. One of the many diet regimens that have fast gained popularity is the lemonade diet.

The lemonade diet was first popularized by Stanley Burroughs. Dubbed as the Master Cleanser, this diet promises to wash off the toxins in your body. The Lemonade Diet appeared in 1976 and has since become a breakthrough diet option for men and women.

The diet detoxifies the body by taking care of pollutants known for causing ailments and illnesses of all sorts. These toxins are also some of the causes of skin breakouts like acne and other physical changes in the body.
For a minimum of 10 days and maximum of 40 days, the person will go on a diet purely of lemonade. This means that only fresh-squeezed lemon juice mixed with water, maple syrup and cayenne pepper will be your sole intake for the next ten to forty days. No bread, vegetables, or other juices are allowed. One could only substitute the lemonade juice with pure drinking water and occasional peppermint tea.

Aside from drinking lemon juice, the Lemonade Diet also prescribes you to drink salt-water flush every morning. Drinking laxative tea every evening is also required to ensure that toxins are dispose of everyday.

The diet operates on an ingenious formula—letting the digestive tract rest. Since the intestines do not have anything to grind, the lemonade would be able to flush out the impurities and toxins that have long resided in different parts of the digestive system. This means that the person following the Lemonade Diet would burn stored fats that were not used before. Thus, it provides an effective way to lose weight safely and naturally.

Ideally, anyone who feels that it is time for his or her body to be cleansed is a candidate for the Lemonade Diet. However, since the lemonade juice itself contains citrus nutrients, it is not recommended to people with high acidic rates. As like any other diets, the Lemonade Diet is also not advisable to ulcer patients, pregnant women, people with allergic reactions to citruses, and those that are currently taking medications.

What’s best about the lemonade diet is that you can actually follow it as long or as short as you can take. Some people have testified to using the Lemonade Diet for three days and reaping notable results such as lightness in their stomach and good bowel movements.

Popular singer Beyonce has also been reported to have followed the Lemonade Diet regimen and lost a good 20 pounds through it. Even the host of “The Truth About Food” in the Discovery Channel, Dr. Oz Mehmet, have vouched that the Lemonade Diet successfully prepares an individual for a weight loss program during his appearance at The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2007.

Breaking the Lemonade Diet Fast

After days of trying to stick with the Lemonade Diet, you are now ready for the Ease Out phase where you break the fast in order to carefully alter your diet from pure liquids to solids. Giving up regular meals to drink juices for days is something that the body has to adjust with. Due to this, the transition from consuming juices or liquids to eating solid foods again should be done ever so carefully in order to avoid any untoward symptoms. Luckily, there are two ways that will assist you with the transition. They are the Vegetarian Transition Process and the Omnivore Transition Process.

Vegetarian Transition Process

After the diet, it is ideal to consume vegetables. This is called the Vegetarian Transition Process. For days 1 and 2, you can have slow sips of 8-ounce glasses of orange juice. It can be diluted if there are problems in digestion. On day 3, after consuming orange juice in the morning, raw fruit for lunch and raw salad for dinner may follow. On day 4, you can jump for joy as return to normal diet is now encouraged.

Omnivore Transition Process

For people who prefer to add more food, the Omnivore Transition Process may just be the right method for this phase.

The first day involves having slow sips of 8-ounce glasses of orange juice and nothing else. Extra water can be added to the orange juice to avoid digestive problems. On the second day, you can consume vegetable soup for dinner after having orange juice in the morning and the afternoon.

For the third day, you can drink orange juice for breakfast; vegetable soup together with 4 pieces of rye crackers for lunch; and raw vegetables, fruit, and salad in the evening. On the fourth day and beyond, you can now go back to your regular diet.

It is really important not to eat excessive amounts of food too early. Also, remember to carefully choose what you will eat. If not done properly, the common complaints in this phase is nausea, followed by other problems in digestion like bloating, constipation, and cramps.

Symptoms of Detoxifying

Introducing change to the body can be a difficult task. At any point, you will get scared if not discouraged by the accompanying symptoms. However, you should be reassured that the symptoms you are experiencing will be gone the next day. Of course, in order to conquer fears, being one step ahead really helps. With that said, the following are the symptoms that you will likely experience:

Feeling tired – Loss of energy is one of the things felt when your body is working to eliminate toxins. Short spells of feeling tired may make you want to rest. It is enlightening to know that after the whole program, you will feel more energized than ever.

Craving – Not eating the foods that you usually eat for a period of time will make you crave for sugar, caffeine, or greasy foods. Remember that craving for something does not necessarily mean that you are hungry. However, if you feel that you are starved, simply drink more lemonade.

Nausea, vomiting, and headaches – these symptoms are only experienced by a few people. If there are a lot of toxins in your body, these symptoms will be worse. When you start feeling them, it is good to know that they will not last for long. Also, if you are addicted to coffee or other caffeinated products, you may also get headaches as a result of caffeine withdrawal.

Hot bowel movements – the toxins that are being eliminated from the body are acidic. They may give you a hot or burning sensation. When you start feeling this, it confirms that you are starting to flush away significant toxins. To lessen the discomfort, baby wipes may be of help to you.

Passage of loose stool or diarrhea – When you experience this during the course of the program, this means that toxins or wastes are being eliminated by the body.

Being irritable – Having to resist food as well as feeling the other symptoms may make you get irritated easily. It is important to keep this in mind and make sure that you do not vent your feelings towards other people.

Although these symptoms may be unpleasant, remember that they just positively show that Lemonade Diet is working. Now that you understand them, for sure, you will be able to get through the whole program with confidence.

Do you recommend I stop taking or continue taking my multi-vitamin for the 10 day diet? I also take a few supplements: Grape Seed, CQ10, Acidopholus, DHEA, etc. Nothing for specific health needs, general general health supplements.
Please advise?

Would like to read newsletter first.
Do you eat while detoxing. I’ve read in other articles that people would only consume fluids. This doesn’t seem healthy.

First day, started Monday 4-25-11; made it through without a lick or nibble and felt o,k., Very tasty. This a.m. (Tues) was down 3lbs water weight, but it gives incentive to go forward. My son has gone on this cleanse several times and loses 15 or more pounds. Amazing in one day, how many times I would automatically want to lick a spoon or taste a chip etc.
I didn’t know about the laxative tea!
